About the Opportunity

WPSHC currently has an opening for Registered Nurse to join our interdisciplinary team of skilled professionals. Reporting to the Clinical Manager, the incumbent is responsible for providing excellent quality patient care and leadership to members of the health care team within the nursing units of the Health Centre.

The hours of work will be all shifts, including weekends and being on-call as required.

More About You

You will need a current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario to qualify for the role. You will also need to have:

• A current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario;
• Minimum one year of experience in obstetrical nursing;
• Previous experience in Nursing Skills pertinent to Acute Care Nursing (Patient assessment, Medication Administration, IV starts, Wound care, Tracheostomy and Ostomy care);
• A.C.L.S. Certification, NRP Certification, Fetal Health Surveillance
• Breastfeeding course completed
• Demonstrated excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; ability to work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team and community resources;
• Demonstrated expertise in physical assessment, health teaching, and clinical decision making;
• Demonstrated knowledge of various computer applications and software related to healthcare programs
• Demonstrated satisfactory attendance levels, work performance, disciplinary history and positive work references;
• Ability to work in a manner that exemplifies the core values of the West Parry Sound Health Centre: Compassion, Accountability, Rights and Responsibilities, Excellence, and Safety.

Preferred Qualifications Include:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing;
• P.A.L.S. Certification;
• Preference will be given to candidates with current certification in Added Nursing Skills pertinent to Obstetrical nursing;
• Enrollment in a community college perinatal or obstetrical program or previous Primary Obstetrical training in an Obstetrical Centre.
