Responsibilities
  • As a Recreation Team Member, you will support and embrace our resident-centered social culture and deliver the highest quality of recreational programming to residents. You will work as a key member of Village and neighbourhood multidisciplinary teams to understand residents’ individual needs and advocate for residents to actively participate in decisions about their care.
  • Foster exemplary relationships with residents, their families and the Village team to deliver holistic care that focuses on flexible living and quality of life.
  • Assist residents by planning and implementing programs that contribute to holistic health care goals, as outlined in Care Plans (including RAI MDS-Raps, Coding and Activities Initial Assessment), encouraging physical, emotional, spiritual, social and cognitive growth for residents.
Qualifications
  • Be enrolled in or have completed a diploma or degree in recreation/leisure studies and/or gerontology from a community college or university.
  • Be excited by our objectives, our Village philosophy and the family values that shape life in a Schlegel Village.
  • Display a caring and respectful attitude toward residents, families, and team members.
Assets
  • Knowledge of the five domains in Therapeutic Recreation that contribute to health.
  • Knowledge of recreational therapy practices, methods, techniques and opportunities to improve residents’ well-being and holistic health.
  • Understanding of the Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2007.
