Overview

Two fantastic positions are now available for Adult Psychiatrists to join a welcoming rural community setting with terrific lifestyle opportunities. Join a collaborative mental health team of social workers, therapists and outreach nurses, as well as community general practitioners, committed to developing innovative approaches to meet needs for psychiatric services across the lifespan. Full-time or part-time positions are available. Our primary shared goals include meeting community needs using innovative integrated care models, and collaborating with family practitioners to develop and implement a patient medical home model, consistent and aligned with the IHA Mental Health and Substance Use Program and with Ministry and Government priorities. Locum opportunities are also available during the recruitment period. Leadership Development Opportunities are available with Interior Health’s NAVIG8 Program. The NAVIG8 Emerging Physician Leaders Program is a comprehensive leadership development program designed specifically for physicians to address the practical leadership knowledge, behaviours and skills that high-potential, emerging medical leaders require to step into leadership roles early in their careers.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with a mental health team of social workers, therapists and outreach nurses as well as community general practitioners to develop innovative approaches to psychiatric services across the lifespan.
  • Provide urgent consultative support to the Kootenay Lake Hospital medical/surgical units and emergency department, in collaboration with local family practitioners.
  • Participate in regional call services to Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital in Trail, if interested.
Qualifications
  • You’ll hold, or be eligible for, licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC).
  • If you’re a US-trained physician with ABMS certification in psychiatry, you may be eligible to practice under the USA certified class.
  • To practice medicine here, you’ll have coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association.
