Position Summary:We are seeking a Psychiatrist to join our multidisciplinary medical clinic and provide comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to patients across a broad range of mental health conditions. The successful candidate will deliver evidence-based psychiatric care in accordance with professional standards, regulatory requirements, and best clinical practices in Canada.
This role involves working collaboratively with primary care physicians, allied health professionals, and clinic support teams to support patient-centred, timely, and high-quality mental health care in an outpatient clinical setting.
What You Will Be Doing: Conduct psychiatric assessments, including comprehensive mental status examinations, diagnostic evaluations, and risk assessmentsDiagnose mental illnesses and disorders such as mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, trauma-related conditions, and other psychiatric conditionsDevelop, implement, and monitor treatment plans, including pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy recommendations, and coordination of carePrescribe and manage psychiatric medications, monitoring efficacy, side effects, and patient safetyProvide follow-up care and ongoing management of patients with acute and chronic psychiatric conditionsCollaborate with family physicians, psychologists, social workers, nurses, and other healthcare providers to ensure integrated carePrepare and maintain accurate, timely, and confidential medical records in compliance with regulatory and privacy requirementsProvide consultative psychiatric services to referring physicians as appropriateComply with all provincial legislation, College standards, and professional practice guidelinesParticipate, where applicable, in quality improvement initiatives, peer collaboration, and continuing professional development
You Have:The successful candidate must meet the following licensing and regulatory requirements consistent with Canadian standards:
Medical Degree (MD) from a recognized medical schoolSuccessful completion of an accredited residency program in PsychiatryCertification in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC – Psychiatry), or eligibility for certificationEligibility for independent licensure with the applicable provincial College of Physicians and SurgeonsEligibility to bill the provincial health insurance plan Good standing with all applicable medical regulatory authoritiesProfessional liability coverage through the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) or equivalentStrong communication, clinical judgment, and interpersonal skillsAbility to work collaboratively within a team-based clinical environment
