Qualifications

  • Registered or eligible for registration as an EIT with Engineers and Geoscientists BC.
  • Relevant experience in substation utility design or protection and control design is an asset.
  • Familiarity with protection principles and related engineering software is an asset.

Job description

Phasor Engineering is a dynamic North America based company specializing in engineering, design, panel fabrication, and testing/commissioning of high voltage electrical facilities. Our focus is to incorporate the latest technological advances to provide the most cost-effective and efficient solutions to power system engineering. This focus allows us to be involved in a diverse range of projects from conceptual engineering through to commissioning and startup.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Protection & Control Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our team on a full-time basis. This role will be based out of our Burnaby BC office.

If you are an excellent communicator and skilled problem-solver with strong attention to detail, we offer a dynamic work environment where you will be continuously challenged in all aspects of the testing and commissioning process.

Responsibilities
  • Assist senior engineers in the development of protection and control designs from conceptual through implementation stages.
  • Prepare and review single-line diagrams, control schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and bill of materials.
  • Perform engineering calculations related to protection coordination and system studies.
  • Program Protection & Control devices.
  • Participate in site visits and commissioning activities to learn practical application of designs.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects.
Requirements
  • Holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • Registered or is eligible for registration as an EIT with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).
  • Relevant experience through co-op, academic projects, or professional work in substation utility design, protection and control design, or related power systems is an asset.
  • Familiarity with protection principles, relay coordination, and related engineering software is an asset.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience using AutoCAD software is an asset.
  • Motivated, organized, with a collaborative and adaptable approach to work.
  • Basic knowledge of the office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Able to work independently while contributing effectively within a team.
