Position Title: Program Lead, Mobile Hubs and Wellness Programs, Manitoba

Reports To: Team Lead, Programs, Manitoba

Scope & Summary of Primary Responsibilities

The Program Lead, Mobile Hub role is responsible for leading and empowering staff and volunteers to deliver programs and services that change the lives of Canadians who are blind. Specifically, the Program Lead is responsible for developing and implementing CNIB's Mobile Hub and Vision Mate and Wellness Programs, adhering to national service standards while maximizing positive experiences and outcomes for participants in Manitoba.

Essential Functions

The position entails, but is not limited to the following general responsibilities:

  • Recruits, trains, engages and actively manages an integrated team of staff and volunteers who will be accountable for delivering programs to people who are blind, partially sighted or Deafblind.
  • Develops and implements operational standards to ensure policies, procedures and practices respond to changing conditions in the marketplace and improves efficiency and competency.
  • Develops implementation plans to maximize the success of CNIB's programs in local markets including the growth of existing CNIB programs, working within national service delivery standards and program curricula.
  • Leads and manages outcome evaluation processes for the program in the region, using a local and national framework.
  • Constantly seeks opportunities to improve service delivery metrics and participant outcomes, leveraging available evaluation data for the region.
  • Keeps abreast of best practices and new developments in programming for people who are blind, or partially sighted and proactively brings forward ideas on how to improve this work.
  • Builds strong, positive relationships with program participants, and seeks insight into their unique needs, goals and lived experiences.
  • Proactively encourages program participants to take advantage of other CNIB programs and services that may benefit them, offering opportunities to expand their support network and deepen their community engagement.
  • Lead the organizing, planning and implementation of Mobile Hub programming for participants in various rural communities across Manitoba.
  • Identify and coordinate all logistics & travel for Mobile Hubs within Manitoba.
  • Create, review and revise safe processes for the set up and tear down of the Mobile Hub equipment.
  • Work with the SmartLife team, identify and prepare inventory of supplies of SmartLife products to travel to Mobile Hub locations.
Qualifications / Knowledge and Skill Requirements
  • A track record of successful people management encompassing leading, managing and motivating teams of staff and volunteers.
  • Proven time management, program planning, coordinating and organization skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing and communication skills, with the ability to plan and deliver clear communications to a dispersed audience.
  • Connections to leadership groups/organizations in the region.
  • Working knowledge of national volunteer organizations with a branch, region and/or membership-based structure.
  • Effectively demonstrates understanding and championing of diversity and accessibility issues.
  • Experience in developing service delivery models.
  • Experience in delivering training workshops and devising and delivering presentations.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and CRM databases.
  • Good relationship/team builder and networking skills with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical, problem definition and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven time management, program planning, coordinating and organization skills; proactive in initiating multiple projects on an ongoing basis.
  • Professional attitude, results oriented, strategic and flexible.
Experience and Education
  • Post-Secondary degree or diploma in a related field (e.g. Social Work, Volunteer Management, etc.).
  • 2+ years experience working and managing volunteers to deliver programming.
Work Environment

  • Travel required
