Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cannabis Product Portfolio Analyst to join our dynamic team in the rapidly evolving cannabis industry. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in driving data-informed decisions by monitoring market trends, evaluating competitive landscapes, and optimizing product offerings. This position focuses on analyzing pricing strategies, competitor activities, product performance, SKU assortment, and rationalization to support business growth and profitability. Reporting to the Vice President, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams including sales, marketing, and operations to provide actionable insights that enhance our market position.

Key Accountabilities
  • Pricing Analysis: Conduct regular reviews of pricing structures across our product lines and competitors. Identify opportunities for price adjustments based on market demand, cost fluctuations, and regulatory changes. Develop pricing models to forecast impacts on revenue and market share.
  • Competitor Review: Monitor and analyze product launches, marketing tactics, and market positioning. Compile competitive intelligence reports to highlight strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats in the cannabis sector.
  • Product Analysis: Evaluate product performance metrics such as sales volume, customer feedback, and quality benchmarks.
  • SKU Assortment Optimization: Review and manage the assortment of stock-keeping units (SKUs) to ensure a balanced portfolio that meets consumer preferences and maximizes shelf space efficiency. Analyze sales data to identify high-performing and underperforming SKUs.
  • SKU Rationalization: Lead efforts to streamline the product catalog by rationalizing SKUs, eliminating redundancies, and discontinuing low-margin or obsolete products
  • Reporting and Insights: Prepare comprehensive reports, dashboards, and presentations for senior leadership. Translate complex data into clear, actionable recommendations to support strategic planning.
  • B2B Product Availability: Work closely with internal teams to prepare and align product availability for B2B requirements. This includes export planning, supply windows for international partners, and readiness updates tied to production timelines. Ensure that B2B commitments are integrated into forecasting, portfolio management, and SKU planning.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration on Product Readiness: Collaborate directly with Production and Quality Assurance to stay aligned on upcoming batches, quality updates, and operational constraints. Provide insights to support decision making, improve readiness for launches, and ensure the product pipeline aligns with market needs and internal timelines
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal stakeholders to align market analysis with business objectives, and participate in cross-functional projects as needed.
Experience and Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Marketing, Data Analytics, or a related field;
  • 2-5 years of experience in market analysis, preferably within the cannabis, consumer goods, or regulated industries.
  • Strong understanding of the cannabis market, including legal frameworks, supply chain dynamics, and consumer behavior.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, Tableau, or similar software.
  • Experience with market research methodologies and competitive intelligence gathering.

Requirements
