Description

Hi there, we’re Article. 👋 Since 2013, we have been redefining the furniture industry one sofa at a time, it’s not easy — it requires solving challenging, meaningful problems. This is where you come in, as a Product Designer (Decor), you'll play a key role in expanding Article’s softlines and small decor categories, bringing a tastemaker’s eye and a strong sense of style and trend to every product they create.

Why We Need You:

We’re looking for a resilient and adaptable designer who thrives in a collaborative environment and has an eye for emerging trends. You’ll need to be okay working with some ambiguity.

This role combines hands‑on design for textiles and decorative accessories. You will be collaborating across Design, Category Management/Merchandising, Technical Product Development, and our overseas partners/vendors.

With the expansion of our Decor category (Rugs, Wall Art, Pillows, etc...), comes the need for an expert in textile design. This is a skill set we need to bolster within our design team; meaning, you would come in as the subject matter expert on print patterns, weaves, and fabrics.

The designer will contribute to print and pattern development, drive ODM/ODM+ product creation, and ensure all products reflect Article’s aesthetic and commercial expectations. As the category grows, this position offers a clear development path toward Softline Planning and deeper category ownership.

During your first couple of months, you will get acquainted with our design and product systems. After that, it’s off to the races, and you’ll begin your work on products that will be set to launch in 2027.

Why Article?

As a Particle (people of Article), you will have a high level of autonomy to solve challenging, meaningful problems the best way you can. That means you’re trusted to explore solutions you believe will work best (you’re the expert, after all). You’ll do all this while growing your skills within a company that is redefining the furniture industry.

About the Product Design team:

There are currently 7 designers on our Product Design team. Most come from an Industrial Design background. The team is highly collaborative; we’re not just saying this, you will be asked to jump in on others' designs and help push through work often. Design is seen as a team effort at Article.

We are a hybrid team - you'll be in the office 3 days per week. You will have to travel within N. America and Asia 1-2 times per year.

What You’ll Do:
  • Design and select softline products (pillows, throws, rugs, bedding).
  • Support design and selection of small decor items (vases, art, sculptural objects).
  • Maintain decor alignment with the Article DNA, the Design Intent and the rest of our catalogue.
  • Building towards the development of in-house prints, patterns, color palettes, and textile concepts.
  • Collaborate with overseas partners on product development and sampling.
  • Manage ODM/ODM+ design, development tracking, and vendor communication.
  • Partner with the current Softlines Designer for category coaching and alignment.
  • Support documentation, sample reviews, and product development updates.
  • Build capability toward Softline Planning over time.
Who You Are:

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Textile Design, Interior Design, Fashion Design, or a related field.
