Process Operator (2 Openings)

Location: Morrisburg, Ontario

Alinova Canada Inc. is building a new soymilk powder processing facility in Morrisburg, Ontario. We are hiring two Process Operators to support the launch and daily operation of this facility.

The Process Operator role is hands-on and dynamic, with responsibilities across both equipment operation and plant maintenance. One hire will bring stronger mechanical/maintenance expertise (licensed trade background), while the other will bring stronger processing/operations experience (food manufacturing focus). Together, these roles will ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality production.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor food processing equipment such as extraction systems, evaporators, spray dryers, and packaging machinery.
  • Participate in daily physical processing activities including but not limited to: manual packaging of bags, stacking of pallets, operation of forklift, and general housekeeping inside processing area and outside facility.
  • Set up, adjust, and troubleshoot machinery and equipment to support efficient production runs.
  • Perform general maintenance and repairs, resolving mechanical issues to minimize downtime.
  • Monitor and control processing conditions (temperatures, pressures, flow rates, etc.) to ensure consistency and product quality.
  • Conduct regular quality checks on raw materials, in-process product, and finished goods to meet specifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of production, maintenance, machine settings, and inventory.
  • Follow strict hygiene, workplace safety, food safety, and environmental protocols.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, and quality assurance teams to troubleshoot and improve processes.
  • Support waste management processes and ensure compliance with environmental and food safety standards.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices, regulations, and equipment requirements.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada and at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma required; technical or university training in process technology is an asset.
  • 3–5 years of experience in food or dairy manufacturing preferred.
  • Strong technical and mechanical aptitude; licensed Mechanic Millwright or equivalent trade certification is a strong asset for the maintenance-focused hire.
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
  • Ability to read blueprints and equipment manuals.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and equipment operation.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, work in elevated areas (4 ft+), and occasionally in confined spaces.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or holidays as required, and in varied environmental conditions (dust, noise, hot/cold).
  • Welding certification, MRO/MRP familiarity, or food safety certification is a plus.
