Job summary

A dedicated rehabilitation provider in Ontario is seeking a Permanent Full-Time Physiotherapy Assistant. The role involves assisting the supervising physiotherapist with treatment plans, conducting exercise classes for seniors, and ensuring safe treatment environments. Candidates must possess a PTA/OTA diploma or degree in Kinesiology, experience in long-term care is preferred, and standard First Aid & CPR certification is required.

Qualifications

  • Educational background in physiotherapy or kinesiology is essential.
  • Experience in long-term care is an asset.
  • Current certifications in First Aid & CPR are mandatory.
  • Vulnerable Sector Screening check within the last 6 months is required.
  • Fresh Tuberculin (2-Step Mantoux Test) clearance is needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the physiotherapist in treatment plans for residents.
  • Deliver safe exercise classes for groups of residents.
  • Maintain communication with the physiotherapist regarding resident care.
  • Ensure safety and cleanliness in treatment areas.
  • Record daily treatments using the proprietary system.

Lifemark Seniors Wellness is looking for a Permanent Full-Time Physiotherapy Assistant to join our growing team!

Location: Corbeil, ON

Status: Permanent Full-Time

Schedule: 30 hours / week

In this role you will:

  • Assist the supervising physiotherapist in performing various components of the treatment plans for individuals living in residential care communities
  • Perform various treatments as prescribed and directed by the supervising Physiotherapist including but not limited to gait training, balance exercises, transfer training, range of motion, strengthening, application of modalities. (i.e. heat, ice, ultrasound, TENS)
  • Deliver dynamic, safe and therapeutically beneficial exercise classes for groups of residents
  • Set up and prepare equipment and clean up after residents' treatments
  • Ensure that the resident gym and treatment areas are safe and tidy
  • Maintain regular ongoing communication with the physiotherapist regarding any changes or concerns about a resident's status or treatment interventions
  • Record daily treatments using Seniors Wellness' proprietary, web-based system

Qualifications:

  • PTA/OTA diploma, degree in Kinesiology or a similar healthcare background
  • Previous experience within an LTC setting an asset.
  • Standard First Aid & CPR Certification
  • A valid Vulnerable Sector screening check (within 6 months)
  • Proof of Tuberculin (2-Step Mantoux Test) clearance
