Job description

Calian is proud to continue a long-standing contractual relationship with the Department of National Defence (DND) to provide healthcare services to the Canadian Armed Forces. Through the Health Care Provider Contract, Calian employs health care professionals across Canada who are integral to supporting the health and wellbeing of our military members.

Position Overview

Calian is seeking a Physiatrist to add to our clinical team working at the Canadian Forces Medical Centre located at the Montfort Hospital in Ottawa, ON. The Physiatrist functions as an essential member of the rehabilitation health care team and focuses on the diagnosis, medical management and rehabilitation of patients with neuro-musculoskeletal disorders and associated disabilities. Physiatrists work part time within a speciality clinic and receive referrals from the primary care health team. They provide higher level consultation and advise to the rehabilitation health care team.

Responsibilities
  • Perform patient assessments and generate a diagnosis based on the results of assessment.
  • Prescribe and perform preventive and therapeutic interventions consistent with the medical diagnosis such as exercise prescriptions, physical modality prescriptions, rehabilitation therapies, and pharmacotherapy,
  • Develop a care plan with the patient and the multi-disciplinary health care team, such as physiotherapists, occupational therapists, mental health professionals and primary care professionals, to address patient’s health care needs including making recommendations on impairment, restriction, and temporary or permanent limitation.
  • Provide follow-up care with patients requiring extensive or long-term multi- disciplinary interventions.
Qualifications
  • Licensed and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
  • Have a speciality certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)
  • Have a current Fellowship with the RCPSC
