POSITION LOCATION: OWEN SOUND
UNION AFFILIATION: OPSEU – SERVICE
STATUS: FULL-TIME, TEMPORARY (APPROX. END DATE MAY 2027)
WAGE RATE: $29.276 - $30.346

Reporting to the Manager, Inpatient Mental Health, the Patient Care Assistant (PCA) will assist with routine activities of patient care, within the agreed upon plan of care. The PCA will work in partnership with a Registered Nurse/ Registered Practical Nurse, to provide patient care and will become an integral member of the team. The focus is on optimizing independence in activities of daily living including individual and group activities and Quality and patient/family centered care with a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction. The PCA promotes an environment that is optimal for the physical, social and emotional well-being of our patients.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certificate of Completion of the Personal Support Worker Program from a recognized Community College or a combination of relevant experience and education, preferably from an acute care facility.
  • Excellent organizational and patient assessment skills
  • Able to effectively prioritize workload
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making abilities
  • Strong customer service, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work well independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Current First Aid Certification & BCLS
  • Working knowledge of Infection Control Practices
  • Commitment to continuing education and professional development
  • Recent satisfactory attendance and performance records
