Job description

EMPLOYER: Dr. Jennifer Winn, Optometrist

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for an individual to work in a multifaceted position in our optometry office.

The successful applicant will function as an assistant to the doctor and work directly with patients. They will be responsible for booking and managing patients’ appointments, billing and insurance processing, working within our online sales portal and email/phone communications with reps and patients. Training is provided on how to use all optometric pre-testing equipment. Light cleaning of the office and managing contact lens inventory will also be required.

We are currently looking for an applicant who can work Thursdays, Fridays and every other Saturday until the end of July at which point they would transition to a full-time position as of August 8. The office will be closed the last week of July.

We work Tuesday to Friday and every other Saturday (Tues/Thurs 11-7; Wed/Fri 10-6 and Sat 10-5). There is public transportation to our location, but if you do not live in Kanata, we recommend access to a vehicle to make commuting easier.

  • Attention to detail, organized and reliable, able to work independently and with others.
  • Enthusiastic, friendly and outgoing; someone who enjoys working with the public.
  • Computer: Microsoft Word and Excel, Gmail and Google Sheets. Training will be provided on electronic medical records and other specific programs to the position.
  • Excellent oral and written communication in English.

Education Level: Secondary School

Experience: Previous administrative or customer service experience an asset

Languages: Speak English, Read English, Write English. Speaking French or another language is an asset, but not required.

$20/hour (full time position also includes extended health and medical benefits for the employee)

16-24 hours a week to start, then 34-39 hours/week
