Description

The Nursing Resource Team is a staffing team that plays a vital role in the provision of nursing services across patient care programs at Lake of the Woods District Hospital. As a Nursing Resource Team (NRT) member, your shifts are assigned to various clinical areas to meet appropriate staffing necessities. NRT members respond to needs based on patient acuity, replacement for sick time, vacation, and planned vacancies. The NRT engages with hospital teams throughout the building and with patients at all stages in their care. This role provides opportunities for skill enhancement and serves as vital support to colleagues and patients.

Responsibilities

The Nursing Resource Team contributes to staffing coverage across patient care programs by:

  • Shifting to various clinical areas to meet staffing needs based on patient acuity
  • Providing coverage for sick time, vacations, and planned vacancies
  • Engaging with hospital teams and patients throughout care pathways
  • Delivering nursing support that complements the care provided by assigned units
Qualifications
  • Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current Certification in BCLS with ongoing annual recertification
  • Certification in Blood Glucose Monitoring with annual recertification
  • Certification in IV Therapy with ongoing competence
  • Ability to function independently and demonstrate competence in Acute Care and/or Complex Continuing Care Nursing Practice within an RN scope of practice
  • Preference will be given to candidates with recent experience in acute medical/surgical nursing
  • Reliable attendance record
  • Current certification in WHMIS
  • Knowledge of First Nations Culture
  • Certification in CPI is an asset
