Nurse Practitioner – Addictions Specialist – HART Hub

New Position

3-year Full-Time Contract (possibility of extension pending funding)

Location: East End - Atikameksheng Anishnawbek and Sagamok Anishnawbek,

Salary Range: $125,880 - $137,553

We work with our 11 First Nation community partners and the IFC in the provision of primary health care, traditional healing, mental wellness and addictions, home and community support services, and health promotion services.

The opportunity:Under the direction of the Director of Mental Wellness and Minobimaadizing, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) – Addictions Specialist will provide addictions care to clients of the Maamwesying North Shore Community Health Services Inc. and the HART Hub. The approach to care is strengths-based and rooted in evidence-based practice and practice-based evidence.

What you need to bring with you:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and a Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner Certificate. Masters degree preferred.
  • Must be member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Three to five years’ work-related work experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with all stages of substance abuse from intoxication through withdrawal, and maintenance for all commonly abused substances (alcohol, opioids, nicotine, marijuana, and cocaine).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and teaching skills.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of a multicultural community and diverse populations.
  • Experience in primary care settings (community-based preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Suboxone trained and experienced.
  • Methadone course (or eligible to complete).
  • Experience working with Regional or Indigenous services, and health planning committees.
  • Knowledge of data collection analysis, policy development and program planning.
  • Ability to multi-task, organize multiple projects and programs.
  • Demonstrated competence in conflict resolution.
  • Knowledge of Anishinabek Health and Traditional health practices.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
