Nurse Manager (RN)

Compensation :

$110,000 - $116,000 / annually, depending on experience

Essential Duties
  • 70% of the time this position requires managerial duties
  • Supervise and manage the daily operations of patient care and non-patient care department
  • Supervise, instruct and assist Nursing Staff and CNAs in provision of care with prompt response to call signals
  • Primary clinical contact for coordinating admissions and discharging patients
  • Assign staff to residents for shifts, manage attendance, scheduling, and staff replacement when necessary
  • Supervise staff, including taking or assisting with appropriate disciplinary measures
  • Approve final payroll timecards, and daily approval of overtime • Provide weekly employee recognition
  • Attend daily and weekly leadership meetings and provide input on IDT process
  • Participate in orientation and on-going training of staff - provide updates for state mandated policy changes
  • Provide customer service to outside providers, contractors, patients, and family members
  • Acknowledge investigate, and resolve staff, provider, and contractor complaints
  • Perform skilled care assessments
  • Make rounds and provide report • Respond to and monitor care issues and changes in condition
  • Assist residents in achieving the highest practicable level of self-care, independence and well-being
  • Assist physicians and other healthcare providers when making visits and conducting examinations
  • Communicate with physicians and other health professionals regarding resident care, treatment and COCs
  • Communicate new or updated orders for rehabilitation therapies • Verify laboratory test samples are obtained as ordered, results are received timely and physicians are notified of results promptly
  • Provide resident care including carrying out physician's orders for care, providing medication and treatment
  • Report significant findings or changes in condition and potential concerns to Director of Nursing
  • Participate in development, maintenance and implementation of the facility's quality assurance program for the nursing department
  • Participate in facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies as requested by Administrator, Director of Nursing or Assistant Director of Nursing
  • Oversee and participate in direct care activities to assure care delivery is consistent and follows policies & procedures
  • Oversee the development and implementation of care plans - review for regulatory compliance and nursing standards
  • Assure physician orders are current, accurate, signed, and communicated to the nursing staff and other clinical disciplines
  • Assist the Director of Nursing Services in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the day-to-day functions of the nursing service department, in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the long-term care facility
  • Participate in developing, maintaining, and updating our written policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day functions of the nursing service department
  • Facilitates the resolution of issues and concerns associated with resident / patient care including family issues
  • Completes required forms and documents in accordance with company policy and state and / or federal regulations
  • Will perform general nursing duties in cases of emergency or staffing shortages
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information.
Supervisory Requirements
  • This position assists with the overall supervision of the nursing staff
Qualifications
  • Education and / or Experience
  • Minimum requirements to perform this position include a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university
  • 2 years or more experience preferably in a long-term care facility and a minimum of 1-year supervisory experience
  • Knowledge and experience with EHR software preferred (PCC)
  • Language Skills
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions, to follow instructions, and to accept constructive criticism
  • Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies / personnel, and the public
  • Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and maintain the appearance of maintenance work areas
  • Ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing maintenance practices

  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations
  • Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an RN in this state
  • Current CPR certification
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in the Microsoft Suite products
  • Knowledge and experience with PCC preferred
  • Must maintain all required continuing education / licensing
  • Must remain in good standing with the State Board of Nursing at all times
