Call for Board Directors

In order to accomplish NB Power’s Strategic Plan 2023‑2035 – Energizing our Future, the NB Power Board of Directors is seeking candidates that bring a combination of skills and abilities that complement the Board’s existing skills, with specific areas of expertise including:

  • CEO or senior‑level utility experience
  • Oversight of multiple large capital projects with a focus on project development strategy, risk management and financial oversight
  • Oversight of large, complex financial transactions
  • Legal experience in regulatory, governance or legislative compliance
  • Digital technology experience in cybersecurity and/or artificial intelligence
  • Senior organizational leadership of cultural transformation and organizational change

NB Power is a provincial Crown Corporation, with the Province of New Brunswick as its owner and sole shareholder. As a member of the NB Power Board of Directors, the Director will be responsible for providing effective governance and stewardship of NB Power. The Board guides NB Power’s strategic transformation, directing the company on a commercial basis while taking into consideration government policy. It also oversees the evolution of the strategic plan to reflect changes to business and environmental realities, as well as direction from the Shareholder. The Board of Directors is committed to and maintains a high level of accountability to the Province of New Brunswick as well as transparency for all New Brunswickers, by approving and monitoring the company’s plans, financial results and performance.

Commitment / Compensation:

Candidates for the NB Power Board must be available to devote the time and effort required to fulfil the responsibilities as a Director and Committee member of the Board. The Board convenes for a minimum of four board meetings and two special meetings annually. Directors receive an annual retainer, as well as compensation for attendance at meetings or for duties performed, in accordance with the by‑laws. Appointments are for up to five years with provisions for reappointment.

Engagement et rémunération :

Les candidats au conseil d’administration d’Énergie NB doivent être prêts à consacrer le temps et les efforts nécessaires pour s’acquitter de leurs responsabilités à titre d’administrateur et de membre d’un comité du conseil. Le conseil se réunit au moins quatre fois par an et tient deux réunions extraordinaires. Les administrateurs reçoivent une rémunération annuelle, ainsi qu’une rémunération pour leur participation aux réunions ou pour les tâches accomplies, conformément au règlement intérieur. Les nominations sont d’une durée maximale de cinq ans et peuvent être renouvelées.
