Overview
Role: Quality Control Technician
Location: ON - Ottawa - 855 Brookfield Drive (YOW B)
Contract: 1 Year contract
Responsibilities
- Under the supervision of the Manager, Quality Control, or Supervisor, Quality Control is responsible for the testing of cards, readers, and capillary tubes
- Also responsible for routine performance checks, including Adaptive Process Control, incoming material verification, validation, and Lifetime event testing
- Assistance with testing requirements for Process Engineering, Test Engineering, and Research and Development experiments
- Test for various purposes (using written instructions) of card lots/readers/capillary tubes coming from the assembly departments
- Carry out routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting of Quality Control testing equipment and record these activities in maintenance logs with assistance and guidance from a higher-level technician
- Ability to track inventory of Quality Control supplies and replace what is in-house, and communicate to responsible personnel reorder points
- Participate in testing process and equipment improvement efforts, including experimental testing. Maintain appropriate records for testing
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in a field of science or a related field, and/or a combination of education and technical experience
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and capable of troubleshooting basic technological issues
- Some working knowledge of GMP and good lab practices
- Routine, detailed nature of testing
- Flexibility required for the varied nature of testing
- Regular and recurring exposure to blood from screened donors
- Flexibility with adjusting work hours to follow up with overnight shifts as scheduled, including on-call support
- Attention to detail
- Proven ability to work and communicate effectively in a team environment while satisfying personal responsibilities

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
- Quality Control experience, such as blood testing, use of pipettes, centrifuges, and tabletop analyzers, is an asset
- Knowledge of basic statistics
- Trained phlebotomist
