Overview

Our Oil / Gas Manufacturing client serves clients in Alberta's gas processing industry. They are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join their team. Their upcoming projects include amine sweetening, dehydration and refrigeration facilities. This role reports to the Manager of Mechanical Engineering.

Responsibilities
  • Mechanical design of pressure equipment per ASME BPVC Section VIII Div.1 and CSA B51.
  • Mechanical design of piping systems per ASME B31.3 and CSA B51.
  • Structural design of steel assemblies per CSA S-16, NBCC and other equivalent codes.
  • Review of customer specifications to ensure designs meet the requirements.
  • Review and endorse shop drawings for accuracy and completeness.
  • Provide engineering support in terms of calculations, reports, clarifications and similar outputs to internal and external customers.
  • Work with local authorities for design registration of pressure equipment and pressure piping systems.
  • Continuously collaborate with the process engineers, applications team, project managers and the drafting group in the design for all products, while meeting project / assigned task schedule.
  • Initiate and be involved in further development of procedures, standards and products.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years in a similar engineering position is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from a recognized University.
  • Registered with at least one Canadian Engineering Professional Association. APEGA registration is strongly recommended.
  • Strong computer skills, knowledge of commercial pressure vessel software, heat exchanger design software, structural design and analysis software and or piping stress and flexibility software.
  • Ability to perform simultaneously in multiple projects and various areas of involvement.
  • Project management skills.
  • FEA knowledge is considered an important asset.
  • Attention to detail.
