Course Information

Title of Course: CHEM 2P32

Compensation

Marker-Grader positions are paid according to the qualifications that the employee holds:

  • Master’s Degree Complete: $32.15/hour (Paid to employees who have completed a master’s degree. Rate effective January 1, 2023)
  • Undergraduate Degree Complete: $27.71/hour (Paid to employees who have completed a four-year honours degree or a three-year pass degree. Rate effective January 1, 2023)
  • Third Year Complete: $20.46/hour (Paid to employees who have completed the third year of an undergraduate honours degree. Rate effective January 1, 2023)
  • Second Year Complete: $17.99/hour (Paid to employees who have completed the second year of an undergraduate degree. Rate effective January 1, 2023)
  • First Year Complete: $16.97/hour (Paid to employees who have completed the first year of an undergraduate honours degree. Rate effective January 1, 2023)
Duties

Duties and responsibilities will be in accordance with Article 22 of the Collective Agreement. The marker-grader is expected to mark assignments, term projects, case reports, midterms, progress exams, and/or final exams. They must provide written feedback to students that clearly identifies the basis of the grade assigned, whether due to substantive content or written communication issues, including spelling, punctuation, grammar, and overall structure and organization. The marker-grader may also be expected to invigilate mid-terms and examinations or enter grades into databases upon request.

Qualifications
  • Must have completed the course (or equivalent in English) with a grade of 80% or higher
  • Graduate of or Major in Chemistry with a minimum major average of 75%
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively with deadlines
  • Previous Marker/Grader experience is considered an asset
