Job summary

A manufacturing staffing agency in Calgary is seeking a skilled Manual Machinist with experience in the oil & gas industry. The ideal candidate will operate semi-manual machines and lathes, apply precision machining techniques, and perform quality control checks. A strong understanding of CNC programming is essential, and candidates with Journeyman certification will be preferred. This fully onsite role offers competitive hourly pay with overtime opportunities.

Overview

Job Title: Manual Machinist

Job Description: We are seeking a skilled and confident Manual Machinist with experience in oil & gas rotary connections and large cylindrical components. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with semi-manual machines and large-diameter pipe, and will have a strong understanding of precision machining, threading, and CNC controls. The candidate will be working on a lathe with Fanuc controls.

  • Operate semi-manual machines and a lathe with Fanuc controls.
  • Read and interpret blueprints; apply precision machining and threading techniques.
  • Conduct own quality control checks to verify tolerances and specifications.
Qualifications
  • Essential Skills
  • 3-5 years of experience in manual machining.
  • Experience in the oil & gas industry, particularly with rotary connections.
  • Strong understanding of CNC programming and controls.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Journeyman certification is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with API threads.
  • Capability to perform own quality control checks.
Work Environment & Compensation

Work Environment: Work within a manufacturing environment alongside a team of long-standing employees. The culture is family-oriented, and we value individuals who are eager to learn and share tribal knowledge. The role requires someone who works well in a team and is comfortable working around heavy pipe. The work hours are Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with overtime available.

Pay: The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.

Workplace Type: This is a fully onsite position in Calgary, AB.
