Could you be the full-time onsite Maintenance Vehicle Planner in Ottawa, ON, CA we’re looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your maintenance planning expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside dedicated and collaborative teammates. You’ll ensure the smooth operation and reliability of our Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) fleet by expertly scheduling preventative and corrective maintenance activities. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (engineering, operations, and senior management), compile performance statistics to recommend process improvements, and support frontline supervisors in determining material and labor requirements—and much more.

We’ll look to you for:

  • You’ll specifically take care of scheduling all preventative and corrective maintenance activities for the entire fleet, and coordinate interior and exterior cleaning and servicing schedules.
  • Consider workforce, material and parts availability, revenue service requirements, and safety rules and regulations when planning and scheduling the preventative and corrective maintenance repairs of vehicles.
  • Manage resource interdependencies associated with constraints and seek solutions to potential conflicts.
  • Ensure that resources are available to meet the requirements of the maintenance schedule at all times.
  • Work with stakeholders to identify and analyze new maintenance initiatives and assist frontline supervisors in determining material and labour requirements.
  • Initiate Problem Reports to rectify material and equipment supply issues and act upon solution proposals.
  • Prepare and maintain status reports for ongoing preventative and corrective maintenance activities.

All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • Degree in a related discipline (e.g., Engineering, Project Management, or equivalent education and training).
  • Experience or understanding of preventative and corrective maintenance programs and schedules.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and relevant legislation (e.g., Occupational Health & Safety Act, environmental compliances).
  • Familiarity with Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) fleet operations and maintenance.
  • Strong verbal communication and technical report writing skills.
  • Proficiency in scheduling software, MS Project, and advanced spreadsheet automation.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Understanding and experience of Earned Value Management.
  • Ability to coordinate the efforts of others to meet objectives.
  • Capability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Things you’ll enjoy

Join us on a life-long transformative journey – the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You’ll also:

  • Enjoy stability, challenges and a long-term career free from boring daily routines.
  • Collaborate with transverse teams and helpful colleagues.
  • Work with a diverse team of professionals to ensure the efficient planning and scheduling of maintenance activities for our Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) fleet.
  • Progress towards mastering project management principles, technical knowledge of LRV operations, and advanced scheduling techniques while contributing to continuous process improvement.
  • Utilise our inclusive and innovative working environment that values leadership, resilience, adaptability, and a continuous learning mindset.

You don’t need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you’ll be proud. If you’re up for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!
