Qualifications

Position

Building Maintenance Technician (Full Time)

Facility: Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada

Job Purpose: Reporting to the Senior Manager of Facilities and Operations the Building Maintenance Technician works with the facilities team to ensure all systems, equipment and entire facility is well maintained and operated to the highest standards. The Technician is involved with the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the facility including repairs, building upkeep, and all other components, both inside and outside to ensure everything is working correctly to enhance our guest’s experience.

Please remember that due to the nature of our business, we work when others play in an attraction that is open 365 day of the year! You will be expected to be regularly available to work any shift during, before or after these hours of operation.

Critical Accountabilities
  • Perform a variety of maintenance and repair tasks on equipment including interior lighting, plumbing, electrical and building systems, drywall repair, painting and troubleshoot issues as required.
  • Perform carpentry and general fabrication tasks
  • Participate in grounds keeping / housekeeping to assist in the overall facility cleanliness as required
  • Maintaining all working and critical areas to extreme cleanliness and high standards including the back of house areas including mopping, scrubbing and vacuuming
  • Maintain routine and preventative maintenance schedules keeping accurate daily logs and records
  • Maintain inventories of critical parts and work within a departmental budget
  • Assist other departments as required to ensure an overall smooth operation
  • Adhere to all organizational / departmental SOP’s and Safety protocols
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work within a team environment and independently when required
  • Use of radio based communication equipment
Special Skills and Requirements
  • Ability to perform physical labour and other strenuous tasks
  • 1-2 years of general mechanical / technical experience is an asset
  • Knowledge on reading and interpreting technical documents such as blueprints and schematics
  • General contracting duties is required
  • Must be willing / able to work flexible hours including weekends, evening and holidays
  • Hand and Power tool knowledge and experience is required.
  • Attention to detail and eagerness to learn
