Job summary

Blackbird Security is seeking a vigilant security professional in Vancouver to prevent theft and provide customer service in a retail setting.

The ideal candidate will wear plain clothes for undercover work, patrol aisles, monitor cameras, and deter shoplifting while coordinating with authorities as needed.

Qualifications

• Valid BST security license is required.
• AST (Advanced Security Training) is required.
• Experience with arrests and detentions in a security role.
• Retail security experience is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Willingness to attend meetings and improve skills.
• Ability to work without close supervision.

Responsibilities

• Prevent shoplifter theft in a retail environment while providing customer service.
• Wear plain clothes to work undercover, blending in with shoppers.
• Patrol store aisles, monitor customers, and watch security camera footage.
• Confront individuals suspected of theft with unpaid merchandise.
• Escort trespassers out of client premises.
• Perform arrests, detentions, and recover unpaid merchandise.
• Complete required documentation for security incidents such as theft and violations.
• Escalate situations to law enforcement as required.
• Respond to emergency situations in a timely manner.

What you will do

• Prevent shoplifter theft in a retail environment while providing customer service to clients, patrons and customers.

• Wear plain clothes to work undercover, discreetly blending in with shoppers.

• Patrol store aisles, monitor customers, and watch security camera footage.

• Confront individuals you suspect of theft, who have unpaid merchandise.

• Escort trespassers out of the client premises.

• Perform arrests, detainments, and recover unpaid merchandise

• Complete required documentation for security incidents such as theft and violations.

• Escalate situation to law enforcement as required.

• Respond to emergency situations appropriately in a timely manner.

The Ideal Candidate

• A Valid Security License (BST)

• Advanced Security Training (AST) is a requirement

• Experience with arrests and detaining shoplifting

• Previous security experience in a retail environment
