Job summary

Blackbird Security is hiring a Loss Prevention Officer in Hamilton, ON to protect customers and merchandise through undercover presence and vigilant monitoring.

Ideal candidates hold a valid Ontario Security License, with experience in arrests/detentions. Use of Force cert is preferred or willing to obtain. Work location is in-person in a retail environment.

Qualifications

• Valid Ontario Security License is required.
• Experience with arrests and detainment in a retail setting is required.
• Use of Force certification preferred or willing to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Prevent theft in a retail environment while delivering customer service.
• Blend in by wearing plain clothes and working undercover.
• Monitor store aisles and video footage to identify suspicious activity.
• Confront suspected perpetrators and escort trespassers off premises.
• Complete incident documentation and escalate to law enforcement as needed.
• Respond to emergencies in a timely and appropriate manner.

What you will do

• Prevent shoplifter theft in a retail environment while providing customer service to clients, patrons and customers.
• Wear plain clothes to work undercover, discreetly blending in with shoppers.
• Patrol store aisles, monitor customers, and watch security camera footage.
• Confront individuals you suspect of theft, who have unpaid merchandise.
• Escort trespassers out of the client premises.
• Perform arrests, detainments, and recover unpaid merchandise
• Complete required documentation for security incidents such as theft and violations.
• Escalate situation to law enforcement as required.
• Respond to emergency situations appropriately in a timely manner.

The Ideal Candidate

• A Valid Ontario Security License
• Use of Force certificate preferred/willing to get one
• Experience with arrests and detaining shoplifting
• Previous security experience in a retail environment
• Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.

Experience:

• Undercover/LPO: 1 year (required)
