Job summary

Blackbird Security Inc. is hiring a Loss Prevention Officer in Ottawa, ON. The role focuses on preventing theft, providing customer service, and patrolling storefronts while blending in with shoppers.

Ideal candidates have an Ontario Security License, and preferably a Use of Force certification; experience in retail security and strong communication are highly valued. Work location is in-person.

Qualifications

• A valid Ontario Security License is required.
• Use of Force certification is preferred or willingness to obtain one.
• Experience with arrests and detaining shoplifting in retail settings is preferred.
• Previous security experience in a retail environment is valuable.
• Strong written and spoken communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Prevent shoplifter theft in a retail environment while providing customer service to clients, patrons and customers.
• Wear plain clothes to work undercover, blending in with shoppers.
• Patrol store aisles, monitor customers, and watch security camera footage.
• Confront individuals suspected of theft with unpaid merchandise.
• Escort trespassers out of client premises.
• Complete required documentation for security incidents such as theft and violations.
• Escalate situations to law enforcement as required.
• Respond to emergency situations promptly and effectively.

What you will do

• Prevent shoplifter theft in a retail environment while providing customer service to clients, patrons and customers.


• Wear plain clothes to work undercover, discreetly blending in with shoppers.


• Patrol store aisles, monitor customers, and watch security camera footage.


• Confront individuals you suspect of theft, who have unpaid merchandise.


• Escort trespassers out of the client premises.


• Perform arrests, detainments, and recover unpaid merchandise


• Complete required documentation for security incidents such as theft and violations.


• Escalate situation to law enforcement as required.


• Respond to emergency situations appropriately in a timely manner.

The Ideal Candidate
