Job summary

Blackbird Security Inc. in Hamilton, ON is seeking a Loss Prevention Officer to help guard people and merchandise in a retail setting. The role blends customer service with proactive security to deter theft and ensure safety.

You will work undercover in plain clothes, monitor CCTV, patrol aisles, confront suspects, and coordinate with clients and law enforcement as needed. A valid Ontario Security License is required and training is provided.

Qualifications

• A valid Ontario Security License is required.
• Use of Force certificate preferred or willing to obtain.
• Experience with arrests and detaining shoplifters.
• Experience in retail security recommended.
• Strong written and spoken communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prevent shoplifter theft in a retail environment while providing customer service to clients, patrons and customers.
• Wear plain clothes to work undercover, blending in with shoppers.
• Patrol store aisles, monitor customers, and watch security camera footage.
• Confront individuals suspected of theft with unpaid merchandise.
• Escort trespassers out of the client premises.
• Perform arrests, detainments, and recover unpaid merchandise.
• Complete required documentation for security incidents such as theft and violations.
• Escalate situations to law enforcement as required.
• Respond to emergency situations appropriately in a timely manner.

What you will do

The Ideal Candidate
