Job summary

Blackbird Security is seeking a Loss Prevention Officer in Sault Ste. Marie, ON. The role involves preventing theft, patrolling aisles, and undercover work to blend in with shoppers.

Responsibilities include arrest/detention where appropriate, documenting incidents, and coordinating with law enforcement as needed. Requires an Ontario Security License and strong communication skills. Work location is in person.

Qualifications

• Valid Ontario Security License required.
• Use of Force certificate preferred or willing to obtain.
• Experience with arrests and detaining shoplifting.
• Retail security experience highly valued.
• Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Prevent shoplifter theft in a retail environment while delivering customer service.
• Wear plain clothes to work undercover, blending in with shoppers.
• Patrol store aisles, monitor customers, and watch security footage.
• Confront suspects of theft with unpaid merchandise.
• Escort trespassers from client premises.
• Perform arrests, detentions, and recover unpaid merchandise.
• Complete required documentation for security incidents.
• Escalate situations to law enforcement when needed.
• Respond promptly to emergency situations.

What You Will Do

• Prevent shoplifter theft in a retail environment while providing customer service to clients, patrons and customers.
• Wear plain clothes to work undercover, discreetly blending in with shoppers.
• Patrol store aisles, monitor customers, and watch security camera footage.
• Confront individuals you suspect of theft, who have unpaid merchandise.
• Escort trespassers out of the client premises.
• Perform arrests, detainments, and recover unpaid merchandise
• Complete required documentation for security incidents such as theft and violations.
• Escalate situation to law enforcement as required.
• Respond to emergency situations appropriately in a timely manner.

The Ideal Candidate

• A Valid Ontario Security License
• Use of Force certificate preferred/willing to get one
• Experience with arrests and detaining shoplifting
• Previous security experience in a retail environment
• Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.

Experience

• Undercover/LPO: 1 year (required)
