Regularized Relief Team Surgical: Unit 22 Day surgery. Unit 23 Surgical Short Stay. Unit 29 General Surgery/ Colorectal/ Gyne/ Upper GI/ Breast hernia/ Thyroid/ Bariatric. Unit 52 Orthopedic Surgery/ Plastics/ Vascular amputees. Unit 58 Vascular Surgery/ Podiatry/ Oral-Maxillo Facial/ ENT. In collaboration with the multi-disciplinary health care team, the Licensed Practical Nurse - Regularized Relief Team (LPN) provides a professional, caring and comprehensive approach to surgical and medical patients.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum 1 year surgical nursing experiences within the last 2 years is required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the following surgical areas: Prior Float Nurse experience, Day surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Oral-Maxillo Facial, ENT, Plastics, Breast hernia, Thyroid, Bariatric, Gynecology, Colorectal, Vascular Surgery, and Podiatry. Understanding of CoAct and collaborative care in the acute care setting. Compliance with the AHS Hand Hygiene policies. Basic Knowledge of computers and software applications (i.e. Microsoft Office, Connect Care/ EPIC). Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Actively integrates patient and family centered care principles within own nursing practices. Preferred Qualifications:

Current IV, CVC, and PCA certifications. Experience with complex wound care and negative pressure wounds within the last year. The incumbent will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in the following areas: Strong patient teaching skills. Ability to be self-directed and exercises independent decision making, nursing judgement, and critical thinking skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively maintain collaborative working relationships.
