Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Licensed Practical Nurses with pharmacological training
  • Licensed Practical Nurse registered in the Province of Nova Scotia
  • Current basic CPR
  • Recent clinical experience, including medication administration and leadership duties
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis
  • Previous experience in gerontological nursing an asset
  • Leadership /Charge experience preferred
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Good problem solving and decision‑making skills
  • Demonstrated use of proper body mechanics and ability to perform heavy lifting
  • Knowledge of / experience with a team based person‑centered care approach
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of the interdisciplinary team
Responsibilities:
  • Resident checks and rounds (including, but not limited to vitals, breathing, incontinent round, safety rounds, narcotic, and charting)
  • Medication administration (includes processing Doctor's orders)
  • Resident personal care (includes feeding/assistance, bowel care, dressing, wound care, and blood work)
  • Resident, family, and staff support (includes addressing questions and concerns, and assisting other Northwood workers)
  • General duties and administration (includes mail, paperwork, ordering supplies, assigning duties)
  • Completes other tasks and duties as assigned

Hours/Shifts: 56 Hours (8 Hour Shifts) Days
