Overview

Clark Wilson LLP is hiring a litigation-focused Legal Assistant to join our Litigation Practice. This role works closely with all practice areas of the Litigation team on a daily basis, reporting to the Manager of LSS. The position provides administrative support to multiple lawyers and requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.

Responsibilities
  • Providing litigation support across multiple practices including business litigation, wills and estates, and family law
  • Assist with matters at all three levels of court in BC: Provincial Court (BCPC), Supreme Court (BCSC) and Court of Appeal (BCCA)
  • Navigate diverse court rules and procedures including the unique requirements of appellate practice
  • Providing administrative assistance to assigned lawyers within the Litigation team, including but not limited to:
    • Setting court dates, discoveries, mediations, and meetings with clients
    • Arranging court filings and organizing and assembling chambers records
    • Preparing and drafting various correspondence and documents, including court pleadings
    • Monitoring email
    • Providing assistance with monthly billing
    • Calendar management and related systems
    • General administrative duties as required
    • Document management and organization
    • Client communication
Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of civil litigation processes across various practice areas
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including professional phone etiquette
  • Proficiency in using productivity tools such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and document management systems
  • Familiarity with legal documents, terminology, and procedures is preferred
  • Discretion and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with utmost professionalism
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation and proofreading
  • Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and be resourceful in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and work assignments
  • Graduate of an accredited Legal Administrative Assistant program or relevant experience
  • Prior experience as a legal administrative assistant or in a similar administrative support role within a law firm or professional services environment
