Overview
Clean Harbors Fort McMurray Canada is looking for a Lead Licensed Diesel Mechanic to join their safety conscious team. The Lead Diesel Mechanic oversees day-to-day shop operations, supervises maintenance work, ensures the company fleet is within DOT compliance, and maintains all service and parts records.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance, conduct inspections, troubleshoot diagnostics, identify failures and deficiencies, and perform necessary corrections. This includes offsite road repairs and service calls.
- Complete daily checklists for proper operation of the unit being operated and communicate any problems or issues immediately.
- Complete and submit all associated paperwork required for tracking preventive maintenance schedules.
- Conduct safety checks and annual vehicle inspections in accordance with provincial and federal laws.
- Ensure equipment is properly parked in compliance with facility permits and DOT requirements.
- Adhere to health and safety policies, practices, and processes and act in a safe manner at all times.
- Ensure all equipment is properly secured prior to work or repairs (e.g., chock blocks and jack stands).
- Correct deficiencies and perform preventative maintenance on company vehicles and equipment; perform thorough inspections and identify required repairs.
- Disassemble, inspect, and replace worn or broken parts; fit and adjust new or repaired parts.
- Complete and submit all required documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
- Keep the shop area clean, tidy, and free of hazards.
Qualifications
- Journeyman on road or Red Seal/HET certification required.
- 5+ years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Technician.
- Previous experience working on vacuum trucks is an asset.
- Class 5 Driver's License required.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay is based on experience: $55–$58 per hour; 5,000 USD sign-on bonus (listed in the job description).
