At Masabi, we’re driving the fare payment revolution, powering the journeys of millions all over the world. We build fare collection platforms that allow riders to seamlessly buy and present tickets for public transport either on their mobile phones, from a ticket machine, or even by tapping their bank card to travel.

Our Justride platform is used in over 250 locations globally, including some of the largest cities in the world. With our industry-first mobile ticketing SDK, we’ve partnered with large players in the transport space, including Uber, Moovit and Transit.

Your own journey is important to us too. Choosing a role here means joining a network of innovators from all walks of life; a group of passionate individuals who consistently deliver. Here, you’ll find the tools you need to build the career you want. Whether you’re taking the direct route or trying a new path, we’ll support you no matter what.

The Role

We’re looking for a Lead Platform Engineer to help shape and scale the infrastructure that powers Masabi’s products.

This is a senior individual contributor role for someone who enjoys building reliable, scalable systems and helping others do the same. You’ll take ownership of core platform capabilities across infrastructure, CI/CD, observability, and reliability, and work closely with teams across engineering to improve how we ship, scale, and operate software.

Location

This role is available remotely for candidates based in Canada (Eastern timezone).

What You’ll Be Doing

Build and scale platform foundations

  • Lead platform architecture design conversations across infrastructure and deployment systems
  • Develop and evolve infrastructure as code and shared tooling (Terraform, CloudFormation, Puppet, etc.)
  • Introduce automation-first approaches to simplify operations and reduce manual effort
  • Support global growth by bootstrapping new environments and enabling multi-region scalability

Accelerate delivery and developer experience

  • Design secure, efficient CI/CD pipelines that support fast, high-confidence releases
  • Build internal tooling to improve developer workflows and reduce delivery friction
  • Work closely with engineering teams to embed platform capabilities into day-to-day development

Advance observability and reliability

  • Define platform-wide SLIs, SLOs, and alerting strategies based on business and technical goals
  • Implement and extend observability systems and tools (Grafana, Prometheus, CloudWatch, Kibana, etc.)
  • Lead performance optimisation and capacity planning for key services and systems

Lead through influence and technical direction

  • Provide technical leadership within the platform team and collaborate with SREs and Engineering Managers
  • Mentor engineers working in infrastructure, delivery, and reliability domains
  • Contribute to strategic planning and help shape the long-term roadmap for platform engineering

Support Production readiness

  • Collaborate with the SRE team on incident response, blameless postmortems and reliability issues
  • Contribute to the design and testing of disaster recovery and failover strategies for key systems
  • Participate in shared and separately compensated on-call rotation together with the SRE team
About You

You’re a platform engineer at heart, motivated by scale, reliability, and enabling others to move faster by leading cross-team technical initiatives and shaping infrastructure decisions with lasting impact.

  • You’re fluent in infrastructure-as-code and config management tools such as Terraform and Puppet
  • You’ve built CI/CD pipelines and developer tooling that are robust and user-friendly
  • You’ve mastered observability and enjoy helping teams gain insight into their systems
  • You’re a clear communicator who thrives in remote and async environments
  • You enjoy mentoring, sharing knowledge, and collaborative problem solving
  • You stay pragmatic and delivery-focused, even when navigating complexity
