A First Nation organization in Moose Factory is seeking a Land Guardian to assist in the planning and implementation of the Land Guardian Program activities. This role involves wildlife and land use monitoring, community outreach, and routine patrols in the organization's territory. The ideal candidate will have bush skills, strong communication abilities, and be able to adapt to changing priorities. A valid class G driver’s license is necessary. This is a permanent position with a three-month probation period.
Reporting to the Environmental Project Coordinator, the Land Guardian will assist the Guardian Lead with the planning and implementation of Land Guardian Program activities. Activities include wildlife and land use monitoring, routine patrols and community outreach activities.
The majority of your time will be spent on the land and waters within the Moose Cree First Nation (MCFN) territory. You will also spend some days in the office participating in meetings, conducting data entry or other office-based tasks. The ideal candidate possesses experience on the land and waters in MCFN territory, able to communicate effectively and tactfully with a wide range of individuals, and act as a mentor and role model.
Permanent with 3 months probation
