We are looking for an innovative and accountable Junior Proposal Writer with a passion for delivering the right solution to serve each client’s unique needs. You are an expert in your field take pride in your work and build trust by following through on your commitments to your clients, partners, and colleagues. In this role you will support KWL’s competitive proposals by developing clear, engaging non-technical content and assisting with proposal coordination activities. This role is well suited to an early-career writer who enjoys collaborating with others, contributing to group settings, and growing their skills in proposal development. This position offers potential for growth, including opportunities to advance into a Proposal Coordinator role.

What You’ll Do

  • Contribute to the development of clear and engaging non-technical content for proposals (RFPs, RFQs, SOQs, RFEOIs, etc.).
  • Organize proposal inputs by coordinating with contributors and tracking requested information.
  • Format proposals and supporting documents to ensure a professional and consistent presentation.
  • Conduct quality control reviews to ensure proposals meet client requirements and KWL standards.
  • Participate in proposal meetings and working sessions, contributing ideas, asking questions, and helping move content forward.
  • Collaborate with technical staff and leadership to gather information, clarify expectations, and refine content, messaging, and layout.
  • Track, filter, and circulate bid opportunities.
  • Maintain and update staff resumes, project descriptions, and proposal support materials.

What You’ll Bring

  • A positive and motivated personality!
  • A bachelor’s degree or diploma in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Communications or Marketing
  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience
  • Strong written communication skills, including writing, editing, and proofreading.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Thrives in group discussions and communicating with team members at various levels of the organization.
  • Comfortable speaking up, asking questions, and seeking clarification when needed.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity in graphic design using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) or similar tools is an asset but not required.
  • Technical or proposal writing experience is an asset but not required.
  • Experience in the consulting or construction industry is an asset but not required.
  • A desire to learn new skills and an eagerness to grow within your role
  • A valid driver’s license (in good standing) is mandatory
  • Must be physically able to conduct field visits commensurate with project work. This may include handling and operation of equipment, travel to remote areas by vehicle, boat, air or foot, and outdoor site visits in all weather conditions on uneven/varying ground terrain.

Wage Range

  • $55,000 - $65,000 wage dependent on years of experience
