Job summary

CIMA+ seeks a Junior Protection and Control (P&C)/SCADA Engineer to join our Western Canada energy projects. You will work with P&C and SCADA designers on substations, hydroelectric and renewable energy projects across Canada, collaborating with experienced engineers.

Eligible for P.Eng track or EIT, 1–3 years in P&C/SCADA, and a strong understanding of protection schemes and IEDs. Hybrid work options and a collaborative environment offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Registered as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or eligible for registration (P.Eng. track) with EGBC or another Canadian provincial engineering association.
• 1–3 years of hands-on experience in detailed P&C and SCADA design within the Canadian electric utility, industrial power, or engineering consulting sectors.
• Basic understanding of utility protection philosophies, secondary control wiring, SCADA architecture, and IEDs/relays.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CAD software or PDF markup tools like AutoCAD or Bluebeam Revu.
• Strong problem-solving skills, willingness to learn under technical mentorship, clear written and verbal English communication, and commitment to safety and engineering excellence.

Responsibilities

• Detailed Engineering Deliverables: prepare/update secondary design packages for substations and power systems.
• SCADA & Automation Design: develop SCADA network topologies, I/O maps, memory maps, and RTU configurations.
• Station Service Systems: assist in designing AC/DC station service systems and distribution boards.
• Interdisciplinary Coordination: collaborate with civil, structural, layout and project teams for integrated designs.
• QA/QC & Work Package Updates: participate in QA/QC reviews and prepare IFC packages.
• Field Engineering & Site Support: conduct site surveys, support FAT and occasional field visits for startup and monitoring.
