The Opportunity

WSP is currently seeking a highly motivated Junior Materials Technician to join our Ground Engineering and Materials Team based Prince George, BC. This position is available in our Prince George office and laboratory. As a Junior Materials Technician, you will join our highly successful team, using your skills to assist in the management and execution of various high-profile and critical projects throughout British Columbia and Yukon. WSP will support relocation and accommodation for candidates wishing to relocate.

  • Leading and performing material testing field assignments, including soil and concrete testing works both locally in Prince George, and regionally throughout BC and the Yukon.
  • Performing tests in our Prince George materials laboratory, including our soil and concrete testing regime, and test results reporting.
  • Collaborating with our wider team of technicians and engineers to provide technical services in a field and laboratory environment related to geotechnical engineering.
  • Participating and contributing to a team environment and being a strong communicator.
  • Promoting strong workplace health and safety practices.
What you bring to WSP
  • A diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology.
  • Confidence with remote work and assignment to projects in the northern environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and strong verbal and written communication in English are essential.
  • Value added assets: Either possess or be eligible for CTech (Certified Technician) or AScT (Applied Science Technologist) certification, and CCIL concrete (Cat 0) and CCIL aggregates (Type C and D) testing certification.

Compensation
  • AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $57,500 – $76,200
  • MB & ON: $52,500 – $72,300
  • NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $52,000 – $69,000
