Position: JUNIOR ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

Location: Calgary

Description

MPE is currently seeking a Junior Electrical Engineer or Electrical Engineer Intern to join our team in Calgary, Alberta. The successful candidate will play a key role in design and project support within MPE’s Electrical Team.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare cost estimates, technical reports, meeting minutes, design drawings, specifications, and contract documents under the guidance of senior engineering staff.
  • Design electrical systems, including but not limited to:
    • Power distribution and emergency backup (up to 750V).
    • Lighting.
    • Fire Alarm.
    • Security, door access, and controls.
    • Communications and networking.
    • Automation and Control.
    • Arc Flash Studies
  • Provide technical assistance on multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Apply Engineering codes.
  • Conduct construction inspections to ensure design compliance.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, regulatory agencies, utility companies and contractors.
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Third year Engineering Student seeking a 12-16-month internship or New Graduate from an accredited University in an Engineering Program.
  • Eligible for membership with APEGA upon graduation.
  • AutoCAD and Revit experience would be an asset.
  • Excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills.
  • Show an aptitude of general construction methods.
  • Valid driver’s license (job duties may include some travel).
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
