Electrical Junior Engineer

AtkinsRéalisis seeking a Junior Electrical Engineer in our Bedford, Nova Scotia office. Reporting to the Electrical Engineering Lead, you will be an integral part of our engineering team, developing and implementing technical solutions in both the office and field. You will participate in all project phases, from feasibility to detailed design and construction. Candidates must have strong verbal and written communication skills, have a keen interest in a fast-paced work environment, and be proficient in research, document review, organization, and time/budget management. The successful applicant must be able to work interchangeably in a team setting, and independently, and will be expected to liaise with professional staff including technicians, engineers, subcontractors and clients.

Your role within the team:

  • Assist senior engineers and Project Managers with contract administration, construction management and design optimization.
  • Establish and monitor cost and schedule for project deliverables.
  • Comply with corporate policies and safety protocols.
  • Perform electrical design work in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code.
  • Design of physical layout of electrical equipment, raceway and grounding plans related to the various facilities.
  • Preparation of electrical single line diagrams, control schematics, wiring distribution schemes, panel schedules and plans.
  • Power studies/calculations including voltage drop, short circuit, protective devices coordination, arc flash.
  • Calculating and preparing bills of materials in accordance with established codes, standards, drawings and other specifications.
  • Performing routine technical surveys.
  • Assisting experienced technical personnel with specific aspects of more complex tasks.
  • Produce engineering documents such as design reports, cost estimates and construction specifications.
  • Foster critical relationships with technical and non-technical staff, and technology suppliers.
  • Interface with project teams to develop and implement multi-disciplinary project strategies.

  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering Degree.
  • Eligible Candidate for CISD Level II (SECRET) Clearance.
  • Eligible for registration as an engineer-in-training.
  • Must have a good attitude and good work ethic.
  • Basic knowledge of engineering terminology.
  • Experience working with and understanding drawings and documentation.
  • Experience with AutoCAD is beneficial but is not a requirement.
  • Experience with REVIT is beneficial but is not a requirement.
  • French language an asset
