Junior Category Buyer - IT and Telco Procurement
Job Description
Reporting into the Americas Regional Category Manager, an experienced and committed individual who can support business stakeholders, mainly in US and Canada, with IT procurement related activities including category management, strategic sourcing, negotiation, etc. The individual will:
Key Activities
- Act as procurement single point of contact (SPOC) for our business stakeholders in customer-facing initiatives; representing IT & Telco procurement throughout the entire bid cycle.
- Collaborate with Global and Regional Procurement, during the bid cycle, to identify the right vendor and/or to define and execute negotiation strategy.
- Be responsible for the relationship with Capgemini Resale group in North America.
- Contribute and support Capgemini business in the ongoing development of the category strategy, collaborating with the different parties in identifying current and future sourcing needs.
- Liaise with all stakeholders and vendors to communicate on new initiatives, identify business opportunities for Capgemini.
Responsibilities
- Will work with our business stakeholders to provide procurement support them during the bid cycle with a wide range of activities such as: deal registration, sourcing, negotiation, etc.
- Will work with our Regional and Group Procurement to support management of business stakeholders regionally, to ensure that the category strategy, including preferred vendors and global standards is understood and agreed.
- Will take ownership for the entire procurement cycle for our Resale organization on North America, collaborating with different procurement and non-procurement teams.
- Will support Americas region regarding compliance management, monitoring and reporting.
- Will develop initiatives into the budget process and forecasting for procurement cost savings initiatives.
- Will help support the procurement operations transformation and savings initiatives.
- Will ensure that category agreements and savings targets and customer satisfaction requirements are met.
- Use appropriate risk management techniques to support the broader procurement strategy.
Key Areas of Skills & Experience
- Must have IT & Telco procurement and category specific experience (5-10 years), strategic sourcing and proven ability to work in a logical and thorough way with attention to details.
- Experience working with/for and IT Value Added Resellers (VAR) and Value Added Distributors.
- Ability to demonstrate innovative solutions to complicated purchasing initiatives, in a fast moving and demanding environment.
- Should be perceived as a hard and fair negotiator, who manages and develops suppliers to meet customer requirements.

- Be a 'doer', project management minded to ensure the delivery of the expected results through the deployment of the defined sourcing strategies.
- Must be flexible and have strong influencing skills in order to use both a facilitative and directive approach to 'sell' method to stakeholders and negotiate with suppliers.
- Good communication and networking skills and able to work effectively as either an individual or as part of a team in a matrix environment.
- Highly motivated towards achieving cost savings and corporate goals (i.e. commercially minded).
- Must have excellent inter-personal skills in order to become accepted in a challenging environment and driving change in a positive manner.
- Experience translating business strategies into accountable priorities for the team.
- Demonstrated successful managing of individuals or team to achieve goals while maintaining individual or team satisfaction.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
