Your role and responsibilities

As part of the Hardware Operations team, under the Inventory Control Assistant role, you will be responsible for assisting with general inventory control duties for a cutting-edge photonic hardware lab located in downtown Toronto. Your main responsibilities as an Inventory Control Assistant are logistics fulfillment, stock replenishment, high value inventory management, asset management, creating reports for financial records and precision equipment handling. You will also help ensure that all aspects of the lab run smoothly; this can include occasionally helping with equipment setup, installation, cleaning, and other general tasks within the lab. You will have a proven track record of excellence in organization, attention to details, a strong work ethic, and experience working around delicate equipment.

  • Replenishing stock on hand and daily refilling common consumables
  • Shipping and packing sensitive/hazardous items leaving HQ
  • Consolidating physical items and keeping inventory software up to date while performing timely internal audits
  • Helping with receiving, asset tagging, and ensuring shipments reach internal customers
  • Checking on outbound shipments and helping ensure their timely delivery
  • Handling sensitive inventory for delivery between Xanadu teams
  • Using precision equipment for the handling or altering of inventory
  • Implementing organizational improvements to the lab stock
  • Assisting with yearly inventory audits and maintaining an up-to-date internal equipment checklist
Basic qualifications and experience
  • Applicant is legally eligible to work in Canada as of the start date and is able to work on-site
  • 1+ years of work experience in a relevant area (inventory control, shipping/receiving, data management)
  • Very strong interpersonal skills and ability to efficiently prioritize multiple requests from different people within the company
  • Highly organized with a meticulous, detail-oriented working style
  • Strong MS Office Suite/GSuite skills
  • Self-motivated worker able to carry out tasks and complete daily mission-critical checklists effectively and consistently
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to effectively prioritize projects while keeping up with daily tasks
Preferred qualifications and experience
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment or in a facility with sensitive equipment
  • Experience with ERP systems (Netsuite, SAP, MS Dynamics, etc.)
  • Experience with inventory management systems
  • Able to lift over 30lbs on occasion (when handling equipment and deliveries)

This is for a new position. Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and internal benchmarks. The base salary range is 60,000 - 70,000 CAD. You will also be eligible for equity and benefits.
