Intermediate Structural Engineer – Join a Team That Puts People First

What You’ll Do: As an Intermediate Structural Engineer within a global Oil & Gas engineering environment, you will contribute to the design, analysis, and integrity of onshore and offshore structures across all project phases. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop safe, efficient, and cost‑effective structural solutions in accordance with international codes, company standards, and client requirements. This position is based out of our Edmonton/Calgary, AB office location.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform structural analysis and design for steel and concrete structures used in upstream, midstream, and downstream Oil & Gas facilities.
  • Develop structural models and calculations using industry‑standard engineering software and general discipline‑specific tools.
  • Prepare design deliverables including drawings, specifications, calculation reports, and material take‑offs.
  • Review vendor data and design packages for structural compliance.

Project Execution & Technical Support:

  • Support project leaders in planning and executing engineering tasks within schedule and budget.
  • Coordinate with process, mechanical, piping, and other engineering disciplines to ensure cohesive design integration.
  • Provide technical input during design reviews, HAZIDs/HAZOPs, constructability assessments, and risk evaluations.
  • Assist in resolving technical queries from construction and fabrication teams.

Standards, Compliance & Quality:

  • Apply relevant international design codes and standards (e.g., API, AISC, Eurocode, ISO).
  • Ensure work adheres to internal quality procedures and meets regulatory and client requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices.

Documentation & Communication:

  • Prepare clear, concise engineering documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in meetings, presentations, and reviews to communicate design intent and progress.
  • Support preparation of technical input for proposals and cost estimates when required.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 4–9 years of structural engineering experience within the Oil & Gas or related heavy industrial sectors.
  • Proficiency with general structural analysis and design software platforms (e.g., finite‑element tools, 3D modeling, and drafting applications).
  • Strong understanding of international design codes and engineering standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high‑quality engineering deliverables with minimal supervision.
  • Effective communication, problem‑solving, and interdisciplinary coordination skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, global project environment and manage multiple priorities.
