Job description

Let’s build something that lasts — together.

At Catterall & Wright, we’ve spent over 60 years shaping Saskatchewan’s communities through practical municipal consulting that puts people first. Rooted in local knowledge and long-term relationships, we take pride in doing things the right way—delivering solutions that truly stand the test of time.

We’re looking for a Project Engineer or Technologist to join our collaborative team, contributing to meaningful municipal projects like roadways, water systems, and site development. Whether you’re eager to grow into project leadership or already confidently managing mid‑sized projects, here you’ll do real work with real people for clients who genuinely value your expertise.

If you’re ready to make a lasting impact alongside a supportive team that celebrates every success, we want to hear from you.

What you’ll do

Some of your key responsibilities may include:

  • Lead the design and management of projects with routine to moderate complexity, including preparing detailed specifications and project manuals that help build reliable municipal infrastructure.
  • Gather and coordinate relevant data and information to conduct thorough analyses using accepted tools and standards, ensuring informed and accurate project decisions.
  • Prepare clear, comprehensive technical reports that communicate project progress and outcomes effectively to clients and stakeholders.
  • Guide drafters in producing accurate drawings as required, supporting smooth project execution.
  • Develop and update technical documents and internal resource tools that enhance team efficiency and knowledge sharing.
  • Maintain project management documentation and databases, including schedules, budgets, client contracts, and proposal scopes, to keep projects on track and clients informed.
  • Support or act as Project Manager by coordinating with contractors to ensure project schedules, costs, deliverables, and scope are clearly understood and met, contributing to successful project delivery.
  • Collaborate closely with Survey, CAD, and other team members to fulfill construction requirements, ensuring quality and consistency in project execution.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, while actively seeking new opportunities through communication and networking to foster business growth.
  • Oversee the work of other project engineers and technologists as needed, promoting team development and quality outcomes.
What you bring

You’ll be joining a team that values practical expertise and thoughtful collaboration. Here’s what will help you thrive and grow with us:

Education/Experience
  • Authorization to work in Canada.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Municipal or Environmental Engineering or Technical Diploma.
  • Depending on the level of responsibility
    • Level 2: Working toward a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Technologist (P.Tech.) designation, with at least 3-4 years of industry experience.
    • Level 3: Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Technologist (P.Tech.) designation, with 5–7 years of industry experience.
Skills/Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of municipal infrastructure construction — from water and sewer systems to roadways, lagoons, and site grading projects.
  • Experience navigating construction processes and sequencing to keep projects running smoothly.
  • Solid foundation in civil engineering principles across municipal, transportation, water, and earthworks disciplines, along with general civil construction practices.
  • Ability to interpret design calculation spreadsheets and troubleshoot historical projects effectively.
  • Clear, concise technical report writing skills that communicate progress and outcomes.
  • Good understanding of project management and contract administration principles to help keep projects on track.
  • Comfortable with various software tools, including Microsoft Office and file management systems; experience with XPSWMM or GIS is a bonus.
  • Small‑scale drone operation experience is an asset.
