A leading concrete manufacturer in Eastern Canada is seeking an Intermediate Precast Design Engineer who will be instrumental in designing precast/prestressed concrete elements for construction projects. The ideal candidate must hold a professional engineering license in Canada, possess a bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering, and have a minimum of 5 to 8 years of design experience. This role emphasizes collaboration, structural analysis, and technical support throughout the project lifecycle. Established in 1963, Strescon Limited has grown to become the largest precast, pre-stressed concrete manufacturer in Eastern Canada. Its primary market covers the Atlantic Provinces and the New England region of the United States. Strescon manufactures a wide range of both architectural and structural precast/prestressed concrete products including bridge girders, wall panels, complete parking garages, hollowcore slabs, precast pile, and deck slabs. Strescon presently has two facilities: 70,000 sq.ft. in Saint John, New Brunswick and 50,000 sq.ft. in Bedford, Nova Scotia.
In addition to our engineered precast facilities for custom components, Strescon also operates a 32,000 sq. ft. facility in Saint John which manufactures standard concrete products for engineered drainage systems, such as pipe, manholes and catch basins.
The Intermediate Precast Design Engineer will be responsible for designing precast/prestressed concrete elements for various construction projects. This role requires a strong understanding of structural engineering principles, precast concrete design, and construction practices. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing precast components and a passion for innovative solutions. As a member of the Engineering team, the ideal candidate must be comfortable interacting with a diverse workforce including Drafters, Engineers, Project Managers, Salespeople, Estimators, Production Supervisors, and Field Erectors. This position requires high attention to detail, reading specifications, architectural, structural, and steel fabricator drawings to ensure the precast design meets contract requirements. In general, this is a position where guidelines, structure, and established procedures must be followed closely.
