Job description

AWC specializes in providing integrated water and wastewater treatment plants and many other specialized industrial packaged solutions. We offer clients advanced in‑house engineering & design with 3D modeling, piloting, fabrication and machining, in‑house control panel shop, and a full range of field services, allowing us to provide turn‑key solutions.

As our company and backlog expands, we are seeking qualified persons to fill the intermediate position in our Controls / Automation Division. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a level of technical experience in industrial control systems, and hands‑on experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Part of the team that develops the control system design, from the control system design to field instrumentation.
  • Total procurement of customer user requirement specifications.
  • Evaluating control strategies and suitability to common industrial processes with P&ID.
  • Evaluating I&C documentation – Control Narrative, RATS List, Cause and Effect Diagram, Serial Interface Lists.
  • Designing and implementing multiple‑loop control systems.
  • PLC programming and calibration of field devices.
  • Developing intuitive HMI display graphics and configurations.
  • Developing intuitive SCADA/RTU applications including historian/rendering and reporting.
  • Configuring and troubleshooting industrial network components.
  • Supports internal Factory Acceptance Testing prior to equipment shipment to site.
  • Supports field commissioning and operations of complete water and wastewater systems.
  • Field support will require the successful candidate to be willing to travel (less than 25 % of their time).
  • Communicates with internal/external key stakeholders (e.g., engineering, fabrication, CAD, consultants, suppliers) to identify and resolve issues proactively.
  • Delivers exceptional service to clients and on‑site partners (e.g., General Contractors, end users).
  • Provides remote technical support for clients and site operators.
  • Provides mentorship to junior staff.
Qualifications:
  • 5-10 years of experience.
  • Experience in water/wastewater treatment plants, as well as a variety of other turnkey industrial process packages will be an asset.
  • Post‑secondary education in Automation & Instrumentation.
  • Needs to demonstrate experience in PLC programming and field service support.
  • Experience with a variety of PLCs, preferably with Rockwell ControlLogix and CompactLogix.
  • Experience and/or working knowledge with HMIs, preferably FactoryTalk View Studio.
  • Experience and/or knowledge with SCADA, various VFDs, industrial communications networks.
  • Strong work ethic, self‑motivation, and pride in delivering high quality results.
  • Excellent communication (verbal & written), interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, including attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
  • Interest in continuous learning.
