Job description
Overview

Do you value great design? Love pushing boundaries? MGA is looking for a passionate Interior Designer to join our Vancouver team and take on exciting new hospitality and cultural projects.

Who we are
At MGA, we’re curious, creative people designing sustainable spaces that matter. From cultural installations and private homes to campuses and community hubs, our work pushes the limits of technology and construction to benefit people and the planet. We’re known internationally for our leadership in mass timber and low-carbon design, with projects like Google’s first mass timber development in California, the new Royal BC Museum Collections and Research building, and a cultural hub in Gällivare, Sweden. Along the way, we’ve collected awards including four Governor General medals, and Architizer recently named us the 2025 Best Global Sustainable Firm.

But beyond the recognition, what drives us is simple: design has the power to shape how we live and the future we leave behind. That means creating work that challenges norms, thrives on collaboration, and keeps communities and the planet at the heart of everything we do.

What we’re working on

Our projects are diverse, meaningful, and full of opportunities to stretch your creativity. A sample of our ongoing projects include:

  • A surf pool clubhouse
  • Gulf Island hotel
  • Headquarters for an electric boat company
  • An airport terminal and restaurant
  • A reimagined children’s library
  • Headquarters for an innovative non-profit focused on youth health and research
  • A new 75-room Ronald McDonald House to support families at BC Children’s Hospital
  • Collaborations with First Nations communities on daycares, schools, youth spaces, and recreation centres
Why it matters

Design should do more than look good. It should change lives. The spaces we create bring people together, support healthier futures, and spark everyday joy. Join us, and you’ll be part of a team shaping real impact here at home and around the world.

What You’ll Get Up To
  • Jumping into complex, high-profile Interior Design projects both local and abroad
  • Working side-by-side with our Interior Design team to bring ideas to life—from concept sketches to final details on-site
  • Collaborating with clients, consultants, vendors, contractors, and the rest of our talented MGA team
  • Creating stunning presentations, drawing sets, developing interior schedules, and leading FF&E selections
  • Mentoring junior designers and contributing to a culture of growth and learning
  • Being an ambassador for MGA—inside and outside the studio
What We Are Looking For
  • 5+ years of Interior Design experience (bonus if it’s in public, commercial, or institutional projects)
  • A CIDA-accredited degree in Interior Design
  • NCIDQ certification, completed or in progress
  • Strong design and graphic skills
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Suite, and Microsoft Office
  • Willingness to quickly adapt to AI-driven changes in workflow
  • Confidence producing full sets of interior drawings, including consultant coordination
  • Working knowledge of building codes (BCBC, Canadian + International)
  • A knack for sourcing and specifying commercial-grade finishes, lighting, fixtures, and furniture
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and a great communicator
  • RHAFC knowledge is a bonus
