Job description
Instrument Person – Summer Student

Term of Employment: Full-Time, Summer Term (May 4, 2026 – August 28, 2026)

Rate of Pay: Student Wage Band: $18.05 per hour (Subject to CUPE 1015 Agreement)

Location: Operations Centre

Responsibilities

The Instrument Person will work with the City of Lloydminster’s Engineering Services team and will assist the team with delivering completed Capital Projects as well as respond to interdepartmental needs.

  • Perform surveys to assist in the design and construction of municipal related Capital Projects including topographic surveys, construction layout and as-built survey and data collection, as well as project management assistance duties.
  • Assist in performing inspections of roadway, water main and sanitary/storm sewer construction and maintenance projects.
  • Complete research projects, data collection, and data analysis.
  • Participate in the City of Lloydminster’s Safety Management System.
  • Other related duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Enrolled or have completed at least one (1) term at an accredited post-secondary school in the field of engineering; preferable civil or municipal background although not a requirement.
  • Must have a valid Class 5 Vehicle Operators License, with a clean Driver’s Abstract, for travel within City of Lloydminster limits. Driver’s Abstracts need to be provided by the applicant prior to employment.
  • Applicants must be attending a post-secondary program including college or university during the last school term and returning to studies in the subsequent academic year. Verification of student status will be required.
  • Contingent on receipt of a satisfactory criminal record check.
Schedule

Normal working hours are Monday to Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm with the occasional requirement to work outside these hours as required by potential Capital Projects. Weekend and on-call work may be required depending on the construction scheduling of Capital Programs.
