Infrastructure Technician - Systems and Backup

Okanagan College hires qualified candidates for its positions. Selections for bargaining unit positions are conducted in accordance with the provisions of the appropriate Collective Agreement. All candidates are encouraged to apply; Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority.

Responsibilities
  • Administer and support server environments including Windows, Linux, and VMware systems.
  • Manage enterprise backup and recovery solutions, ensuring availability and integrity of critical systems and data.
  • Administer file, print, and application servers.
  • Support cloud‑connected systems and hybrid data centre services.
  • Implement and monitor system security controls, including patch management and antivirus solutions.
  • Perform server hardware and software upgrades.
  • Maintain system documentation, configurations, and asset inventories.
  • Conduct server and backup audits and provide recommendations.
  • Participate in planning and execution of system improvements and lifecycle replacements.
  • Provide guidance to new or inexperienced members of the team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • Graduation from a two‑year post‑secondary program in a related area.
  • Minimum of four years of related experience.
  • Cloud architecture certification, Microsoft MCSE, CCNA, and VMware or equivalent certification desirable.

Desired start date: 01/19/2026. Position ends (if temporary): –. Schedule: Monday‑Friday (17.5 hours/week). Annual Salary/Hourly Rate: $33.93 - $38.77. Appointment Type: Support – Regular Part‑time.
