Compensation Range: $30.87 - $36.13/ hour

ErinoakKids is currently seeking an experienced Infant Hearing Screener to join the Infant Hearing Program (IHP). This individual will be primarily responsible for newborn hearing screenings while reporting to a Clinical Services Supervisor. As an Infant Hearing Screener, there are requirements to travel between ErinoakKids and Trillium Health Partner-CVH site and occasional travel to community clinics.

Infant Hearing Screeners are required to provide counseling to parents/caregivers regarding the results of screening and follow-up procedures, where necessary. They will distribute appropriate written materials to parents/caregivers; and maintain proper documentation and health and safety practices as outlined by Erinoakkids and the IHP. Other responsibilities are administrative support at early identification clinics in the community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform Universal Newborn Hearing Screening (UNHS) in hospital and community settings using approved IHP protocols and equipment.
  • Obtain explicit and informed consent and ensure accurate documentation of screening results in the IHP database.
  • Interpret and communicate results clearly to caregivers, providing next steps and arranging timely follow-up for referrals as needed.
  • Maintain screening equipment and adhere to infection control standards, ensuring reliable and safe testing conditions.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities, meeting program benchmarks and supporting continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
  • College Diploma or University Degree in a related field (e.g., Early Childhood Education, Communication Disorders Assistant, or similar).
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a qualified Infant Hearing Program Screener, with demonstrated flexibility in working across different screening locations.
  • Must be able to travel across Trillium Health Partner-CVH site, ErinoakKids Brampton site or work at another site as required.
  • Solid knowledge of speech-language development and audiology is considered an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) to engage effectively with staff, clients, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access) and trained in CareDove data entry, scheduling/managing clinic appointments, and documenting outcomes.
  • Exceptional organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities, including strong triage skills for screening days.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, consistently delivering high-quality, protocol-driven IHP screening and documentation.
  • Must possess a valid Ontario driver’s license and have access to a personal vehicle.
