Overview :

An opportunity currently exists in our Rossland or Kelowna office for an Intermediate Structural Engineer. The ideal candidate will have a good university-level understanding of concrete and steel design. The successful candidate will work on a range of projects varying in complexity, construction value, and stages of the procurement cycle.

You will draw on your proactive and analytical problem-solving skills to deliver structural solutions, working under supervision and supporting larger interdisciplinary teams.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct structural inspections for industrial projects and occasionally be on site in an industrial plant or construction site.
  2. Design equipment foundations and support structures.
  3. Make confident technical decisions with limited information.
  4. Estimate and prepare engineering proposals.
  5. Ensure projects are on task, on budget, and on schedule.
  6. Approve and stamp own project designs and reports, and review those of engineers in training.
  7. Represent the company well in client meetings and presentations.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in structural engineering.
  • Registered P.Eng or eligible to register in BC.
  • Self-motivated with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong commitment to client service.
  • Highly organized, able to prioritize multiple tasks, and flexible in work approach.
  • Passionate about your profession and results-driven.
  • Ability to work occasionally on-site in industrial or construction environments.

Additional qualifications and experience that would be an advantage include:

  • Knowledge of Canadian codes and standards.
  • Design experience in heavy industries such as Oil & Gas, Mining, or Substation design.
  • Proficiency in SAP 2000 or similar software.

The expected salary range for this position is from $90,000 to $125,000, depending on experience, training, skills, and internal equity. Salary and position may vary based on the candidate profile.
